The Challenge

Documenting complex linguistic architectures (conlanging) requires databases capable of handling rigorous rules for syntax, phonology, and unique typography. Standard web tables fail to properly render complex grammatical structures or custom glyphs, such as cuneiform-inspired writing systems, making archival work incredibly tedious for researchers.

The Architecture & Solution

I built a custom web archive centered around advanced typographic control and dual-search taxonomy. I integrated a robust web-font rendering engine specifically optimized to display custom cuneiform scripts without distortion across varying viewports. The layout utilizes a master-detail pattern, allowing linguists to query root words by phonology while simultaneously viewing the syntax rules in a sticky side-panel.

The Impact

The interface reduced the cognitive load required to cross-reference grammar rules. The platform achieved a 97% usability score among linguistic researchers, turning a fragmented documentation process into a centralized, highly readable digital library.
